Utility Rate Analyst

Hybrid- 3 days onsite ( Needs to be in office full-time until fully trained possibly a month)
Pay : $42.00 - $45.00 per hour
Job Summary
The Utility Rate Analyst is responsible for supporting regulatory filings, rate administration, and financial analysis related to utility rates. This role involves compiling, analyzing, and reviewing rate schedules, tariffs, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with regulatory requirements. The position requires strong analytical, accounting, and financial skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid environment. This is a 6-month assignment with an initial period of full-time in-office training. Job Responsibilities
Prepare and update rate-related documents used across departments, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Review and analyze rate filing documents, work papers, and supporting schedules
Conduct quantitative analyses of rate schedules to evaluate customer bill impacts
Prepare, interpret, and document tariffs and tariff calculations for fuel, purchase power, capacity, energy efficiency costs, environmental costs, securitization, and other regulatory charges
Assist in the interpretation and documentation of regulatory order filing requirements
Prepare regulatory data for filings, including pro forma adjustments, cost of service allocations, and rate calculations to ensure equitable cost recovery while maintaining corporate financial stability
Perform peer reviews of FRPs, rate cases, fuel, special riders, and other filings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with jurisdictional requirements
Develop and maintain detailed spreadsheets and other analytical tools to support filings
Communicate findings and analyses clearly to internal teams and management
Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and adapt to changing priorities
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Engineering, or related field; Accounting or Finance degree highly preferred
MBA or CPA preferred
1-3+ years of relevant experience (Analyst II-III level)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and other business applications
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities
Work Experience
Previous experience with regulatory filings or financial analysis preferred
Utility industry experience is a plus but not required
Experience in research, auditing, or data analysis preferred
