Position(s) I am Applying for
Communications Specialist
Help implement various communications programs that advance the firm's strategic goals and build name recognition in key practice areas, industries, and markets. Work in collaboration with the firm's communications, public relations, business development, and marketing team colleagues. Position can be based out of the firm's office in New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, or Houston, with a preference for DC or NY. Two to three days a week hybrid working arrangements are available.
Essential Functions
* Support and execute day-to-day social media, PR, marketing communications, and internal communications activities firm-wide as assigned by the Public Relations Manager and Marketing Communications Director.
* Oversee and assist with content and asset generation and posting to the firm's account on LinkedIn.
* Draft and post content for the news and publications sections of the firm's website and intranet.
* Provide support on the creation of strategic level presentations to partners and the firm.
* Organize quarterly town halls for associates and business services professionals.
* Assist with the placement of comment opportunities and attorney-written articles as bylined commentary in publications.
* Monitor and evaluate social media including LinkedIn and Twitter for Steptoe coverage.
* Assist with the drafting of stories and digital/video content for internal and external use including traditional and social media.
* Assist with the drafting of awards submission for individual, practice-specific, and firm accolades.
* Assist in the completion of survey submissions.
* Track daily media coverage of the firm, practices and lawyers.
* Compile monthly PR report and disseminate to relevant parties.
* Build and maintain editorial and awards calendars.
* Research media outlets/reporters following key issues of interest.
* Perform outreach and follow-up to lawyers, interacting with them in a professional and productive manner.
* Handle various administrative functions, such as ordering reprints.
Non-Essential Functions

Minimum Qualification
* Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar discipline preferred.
* 5+ years of professional experience. Internship experience will be considered.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* The ability to write professionally and with superb attention to detail.
* The ability to proofread and ensure accurate written material.
* Excellent time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments, and deliver solid results while working under pressure.
* The ability to work independently and collaboratively with superior client service skills.
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet-based public relations tools.
* Familiarity with Adobe Suite, and/or Canva.
* The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion.
* Good judgment and decision-making skills.
* Knowledge of AP Stylebook preferred.
* Knowledge of legal industry and legal sector marketing a plus.

* Must be able to handle assignments independently and follow-through to completion.
* Must work well within a team environment.
* Attention to detail, proofreading, and accuracy are key in this role.
Work Environment
* Must be able to work under tight deadlines and in stressful situations.
* Available to work 9:00 a.m. -5:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
* Must be available to work beyond regular hours as needed.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $75,000-$95,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
