Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Asphalt Finisher to join our paving crew. The Asphalt Finisher plays a critical role in the final appearance and durability of asphalt surfaces by ensuring a smooth, even finish during and after asphalt placement. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent coordination, and experience working with hot mix asphalt in a fast-paced construction environment.



Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    Finish and smooth asphalt surfaces using hand tools such as lutes, rakes, and tampers.
  • Work alongside the paving machine to ensure proper depth, slope, and finish.
  • Monitor mat quality for consistency, joints, edges, and surface texture.
  • Assist with screed control if working on or near the paver.
  • Apply and smooth tack coat when required for overlays.
  • Communicate with paver operator and roller operator to maintain a continuous and balanced workflow.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Ensure work meets project specifications, tolerances, and visual standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear PPE at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes):

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 2+ years of experience in asphalt finishing or paving crew roles preferred.
  • Proficiency in using finishing tools and understanding of paving best practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing job site needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify imperfections or quality concerns.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and stand, kneel, and bend for long periods.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Able to work long hours, including nights and weekends as required by the project.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area.
