Job Summary

Job Summary

This position is responsible for landscaping and maintenance of the ground's property mow or edging lawns using power mowers or edgers. Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding grubbing, trimming or edging around flowers beds, walks or walls. Responsible for daily time and attendance clocking in/out for shift worked. Responsible for completion of assigned work orders. Ability to submit accurate material requisitions and job estimate summaries. Strive to practice best safe work habits such as wearing appropriate safety gear when required, use of proper body mechanics when lifting/moving items and keeping work areas clean and organized. Employees will operate both fixed and portable tools and equipment in a safe manner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to operate machines or power tools
  • Must have 3 years' experience working with and knowledge of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers
  • Must have experience with weed control

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with and knowledge of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers
  • Knowledge of plant diseases desirable
  • Experience maintaining grounds in a large commercial environment desirable

Temporary Employment Services provides temporary staffing to UC Davis Campus University in Davis, and UC Davis Health in Sacramento. Job Titles vary depending upon the functions of the assignments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Lift equipment/supplies, move containers exceeding 50 pounds.

  • Use of ladders, as well as, reach, stoop, bend, kneel when retrieving items off shelves.

  • Use of various industrial kitchen equipment such as ranges, ovens, slicers, mixers, grills.

  • Stand continuously during meal service periods (up to 8hrs with scheduled breaks).

  • These positions are subject to completion of a Pre-Placement medical exam provided by Employee Health Services, at no charge to the applicant.

  • Must complete mandatory Trainings within 15 days from the start date of first assignment.

Special Requirements

  • This position is a critical position and may be subject to background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screening.

  • As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccination Programs, as may be amended or revised from time to time. Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.
