Overview Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This position will be located at NASA's Langley Research Center. Responsibilities The successful candidate will join the Maintenance Operations team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Engineer Manager. All work will be completed with a high level of quality, professionalism and full adherence to all safety policies and procedures. Looking for an Electrical Engineer to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems across center. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting maintenance teams with strong technical guidance. Responsibilities: Analyze equipment failures and recurring issues, lead root cause analyses, and develop corrective and preventive actions to prevent repeat failures Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical assets, including motors, drives, switchgear, controls, and related systems Review, create, and update electrical job plans, maintenance procedures, and preventive maintenance tasks to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability Provide electrical engineering support for equipment repairs, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects from design through execution Identify equipment reliability risks and obsolescence concerns, and recommend design changes, process improvements, or replacement strategies Support commissioning, testing, and turnover of new or modified electrical systems, ensuring systems meet design intent and operational requirements Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and site safety requirements, including support of audits and inspections Collaborate closely with reliability, mechanical, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support reliability-centered maintenance efforts Provide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance personnel as needed Prefer experience in a utility, or research environment and familiarity with CMMS systems and asset management tools (specifically IBM Maximo) Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. BS degree in Electrical Engineering or in appropriate discipline and two (2) to five (5) years related engineering experience, or MS degree and one (1) to three (3) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. and zero (0) to one (1) year of experience from an accredited engineering school and a working knowledge of maintenance and reliability requirements for mechanical systems.
