Position Summary

The Director, Field Medical Account Lead (FMAL) serves as the accountable medical lead for population-based decision makers (PBDM) in their priority accounts. This position is accountable for GSK's key portfolio of products and pipeline and works in close collaboration with Account Management (AM) teams across GSK to provide a seamless customer experience through impactful and timely value engagements. The FMAL will identify and appropriately engage medical influencers/decision makers within a sophisticated customer base to establish relationships and inform access, management, and purchase-based decisions, assist with pipeline planning/surveillance, represent GSK Medical capabilities/needs, and return actionable medical voice of the customer.

Location: This is a field position based in the United States (US). The preferred location is in the Southwest. Must be within reasonable driving distance of a major airport.

Responsibilities
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Develop a scientific account plan and lead external medical engagements with US payers & channel customers (e.g. health plans, PBMs, SPs, and GPOs); Integrated Accounts (e.g. IDNs and large group practices); and other relevant stakeholders to articulate the value of GSK medicines across all disease areas (including pipeline) in accordance with GSK policies and procedures.

  • Build relationships with account-based customers providing transparent and timely clinical, economic, and humanistic data to inform access, management, and purchase-based decisions.

  • Appropriately engage customers on near-term pipeline assets assessing their priorities and evidence needs as well as supporting their planning, budget, and/or reimbursement decisions for future access.

  • Gather medical voice of the customer to support generation of key customer insights that help inform and shape our access and value evidence strategy.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the US Healthcare Ecosystem and how changes are impacting PBDMs and GSK products and research needs.

  • Build and maintain product, disease state, pathways and payer/provider environment and reimbursement expertise as required by scope of therapeutic area responsibility.

  • Assess collaborative capabilities and interests including RWE; identify/facilitate opportunities for partnership where applicable.

  • Leverage cross-functional medical matrix partners and internal R&D resources (US and Global) when needed to meet the needs of PBDMs for deep clinical or therapeutic expertise.

Internal Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the GSK commercial Market Access teams to understand their customer engagement strategy, etc. to appropriately engage medical influencers/decision makers within these customers.

  • Partner with HQ-based Medical Accounts team and other relevant US Medical team members in conceptualizing and implementing fit-for-purpose field medical account planning and engagement materials.

  • Internal connection to US Medical and RWE USHO research teams to inform strategic asset planning.

  • Participate in process improvement, change management, and capability-building initiatives for the Medical Accounts team

  • Contribute to cultivating a strong, collaborative, and inclusive team culture within both the Medical Accounts team and the broader cross-functional GSK matrix teams

Why You?

Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • 3+ years' experience working with US Payer, GPOs or Institutional customers in a relevant field-based medical role; or 5+ years relevant experience in a managed care or pharmaceutical setting.

  • PharmD, PhD, M.P.H., M.S. or equivalent education.

  • This is a field-based position, travel (including overnight trips) up to 50% of the time.

Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Strong command of scientific and health outcomes/economic information with effective written/verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to engage and develop/maintain strong relationships with customers and internal matrix partners as well as lead/inform key decision makers.

  • Demonstrated customer-focus, problem solving abilities and strong conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience and knowledge of government, US Payer and integrated systems; Direct experience in a payer, health system, and/or relevant managed care environment is strongly desired.

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work independently and effectively across functional teams.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills.

  • Proficient in managing extensive scientific and health outcomes/economic information across various products and pipeline assets.

The US annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $201,000 to $335,000. The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
