Job Description

Kearney & Company is seeking a Policy Manager to join our team supporting one of the Federal government's largest agencies! Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate DON financial management and accounting policy reviews, including SharePoint setup, SME coordination, and stakeholder engagement
  • Evaluate FMR updates, maintain policy guidance, and disseminate changes across the financial management community
  • Develop and standardize DON financial management and accounting policy, tools, templates, and trackers
  • Manage knowledge management platforms, including the FMPM virtual site and FMO KM Accounting Portal
  • Support Corrective Action Plan (CAP) remediation by tracking milestones and drafting policy as needed
  • Update, maintain, and publish the DON Financial Management Policy Manual (FMPM)
  • Assist in developing DON-wide policy to address audit findings, conduct root cause analysis, and support corrective action governance
  • Monitor authoritative bodies (FASAB, OMB, GAO, DoD) for impacts to DON policy
  • Provide ad hoc support including briefs, training materials, and policy-related communications

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS/BBA from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive, relevant experience, including experience leading financial management and accounting/policy management/sustainment/development, and/or financial system controls documentation and related projects.
  • Experience with federal or DoD financial management policy, specifically GAAP hierarchy
  • Active Secret Clearance at minimum required (requires U.S. citizenship)
  • Strong writing, analysis, and coordination skills, including experience maintaining large policy documents in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to work on-site in Alexandria, VA and DC up to 5 days a week
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One of the following professional certifications: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM or CDFM
  • Familiarity with FMR, SECNAV Instructions, audit remediation, and knowledge management tools (e.g., SharePoint)

The expected salary range for this position is between $77,000 and $125,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
