The Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit is seeking a Survey Office Technician in Los Angeles, CA.

The Surveying and Geomatics Business Unit is seeking an experienced Office Survey Technician in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, you will support the delivery of high-quality survey projects across Southern California, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, and construction support services. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and Surveyors to produce accurate, defensible mapping and technical deliverables while continuing to grow your technical expertise in a team-oriented environment.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed mapping, drafting, and technical deliverables in support of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, and construction survey projects.
  • Process survey data, extract features from point clouds, and develop accurate CAD-based mapping deliverables.
  • Work closely in an apprenticeship role with Survey Manager, Project Surveyor, and a large network of successful professionals around the Western United States.
  • Perform research and assist with boundary analysis, legal descriptions, and survey calculations under the direction of a licensed Professional Land Surveyor
  • Assist with boundary determinations and procedure analysis.
  • Prepare legal descriptions, exhibits and plats.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD C3D, MicroStation (ORD), and Point Cloud extraction.
  • Minimum 6 years of survey field and/or office experience and general engineering plan reading skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Familiarity with California mapping standards, Subdivision Map Act, and local agency requirements preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering or drafting
  • LSIT
  • Data processing experience using TBC (Trimble Business Center), Topodot, and Cyclone for feature extraction.
  • Experience with MicroStation (ORD)
  • Point cloud processing and feature extraction
