The Senior Manager of Social strategy is responsible for shaping and managing audience growth and engagement (paid and organic strategies) across social platforms. This role will be pivotal in informing how we engage audiences, drive content discovery, content engagement, and long-term brand relevancy across social platforms. This role combines strategic and analytical skillsets to deepen our understanding and testing roadmap for our present and future social state.

The Senior Manager will serve as an individual contributor to build a best-in-class testing engine for social audience growth - managing multiple stakeholders and cross-functional priorities across marketing, social and the newsroom. Success requires a performance mindset, strong leadership, and the ability to influence all levels of the organization.

Social Media and Platform Strategy

  • Strategic planner across social platform strategies to maximize reach, user engagement and conversion pathways
  • Deep experience across all social platforms including Meta, TikTok, X, Reddit, YouTube and emerging platforms
  • Manage paid agency to drive audience and subscriber growth including budget management, social strategy placements, content management and creative testing
  • Proactively research competitors, social creators, and the latest social platforms, tools, and algorithm changes to ensure best practices
  • Identify and report top performing monthly trends across existing and new channels


Social Content and Cross-Functional Strategy

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to inform critical content strategy decisions, offering recommendations based on content insights and consumer pain points
  • Partner with social and newsroom teams to identify top performing content (offline and owned), verticals and formats to feed into content engine
  • Leverage the unique voice, insight, and experience of newsroom talent to go beyond article creation and put us at the center online conversation
  • Optimize content for searchability and discoverability, maximizing best practices
  • Lead and contribute to innovation across testing roadmap for social channels and platforms


Analytics and Reporting

  • Determine metrics and program results across all social platforms owning and maintaining monthly readouts to key stakeholders
  • Lead and work with analytics to create, maintain and own Tableau/Amplitude/Marfeel dashboards on social and audience performance
  • Translate audience insights monthly to feed into social and newsroom content strategy


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 8 years' experience in social media management, preferably within media, news or lifestyle brands. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 6 years' experience; or 12 years' education/experience equivalency with no degree
  • Experience with all social business managers, analytics platforms preferred (Tableau, Amplitude, Sprout Social, Marfeel)
  • Experience managing an agency, media spend and annual budgets
  • Proven track record of audience growth and performance first mindset
  • Rigorous tester with a constant curiosity to test new concepts, formats and ideas


USD 111,500.00 - 185,900.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $111,500.00 - $185,900.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
