ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: *Assist the Purchasing Manager in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of his/her functional responsibility. *Manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the items assigned to Buyer by the Director of Purchasing. *Comply with any supplier agreements implemented by the Purchasing Manager. *Purchase materials that are assigned to the buyer and schedule them for on time delivery in quantities that support the production schedule or take advantage of economic order quantities such as quantity price breaks or free freight as directed or advised by the Purchasing Manager. Signature authority up to $50,000. *Monitor raw material inventory levels to prevent shortages and to minimize the investment in raw material inventory and to mitigate or eliminate obsolescence. *Resolve any items that appear on the daily shortage report including checking and filling in the required fields on the report multiple times per day. Further, informing the Purchasing Manager if any item on the daily shortage report that will not be resolved in the immediate future or will hold up shippers. *Work with Bill of Material personnel to correct material use when inventory variances occur. *Communicate material cost changes to the Purchasing Manager for resolution. *Resolve any past due purchase orders or notify the Purchasing Manager if a past due purchase order will not be resolved in time to prevent a shortage. *Process and disposition materials that are no longer needed due to damage or obsolescence. *Implement ECN's as directed by the Purchasing Manager. *Process sales change orders as required. *Process and resolve disputed supplier invoices in the three invoice approval queues. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist the Purchasing Manager with the raw material physical inventory process including helping calculate and report the total value of raw material related to the physical inventory to accounting. 2. Participate in the resolution of supplier quality or warranty issues. 3. Cross training to help with Buy America 4. Other tasks as assigned. Experience/Knowledge (Required Experience / Knowledge Only) *A combination of education and experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment. *Experience in a manufacturing process a plus. *Knowledge of bus manufacturing or transit industry would be considered an asset. Equipment / Machines Used: Specific Job Skills: *Computer and organizational skills. *Have good interpersonal and communications skills. *Goal orientated and motivation to achieve tasks within set timelines. *Excellent verbal and written communication. *Excellent self-manager, with demonstrated ability to succeed as part of a team. Travel: 0 - 5% Physical Activity/Requirements: This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending and sitting, Must be able to lift and/or move items over 25 pounds
