Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM)/Certified Midwife (CM) / Instructor / Senior Instructor / Assistant Professor in the Clinical Practice Track (Open Rank) for a 1.0 FTE, benefits-eligible, position with its Center for Midwifery (CFM) faculty practice in Aurora, CO (on the Anschutz Medical Campus). This position is clinically based as a health care provider, and includes an instructor level, clinical practice track faculty appointment within the College of Nursing and is full scope including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care. The University of Colorado, College of Nursing currently has four academic midwifery faculty practices and a midwifery education program.

Faculty Practice Description:

The Center for Midwifery is a private practice model that provides holistic, person-centered care. We offer people many services including individualized care, alternative labor/birth options, childbirth education, lactation services, mental health services, water birth and referrals to specialized care in other departments. The practice provides full-scope midwifery care to people at two locations with births occurring at the University of Colorado Hospital the Anschutz Medical Campus. CFM believes that people benefit from personalized and comprehensive care that focuses on the patient while including the family in the plan of care. We serve people who desire alternative labor and birth experience with a water birth option. The midwife will be part of a midwifery service that has a long and successful history within the University of Colorado system.

Supervision Received:

Work is performed independently under the general direction and authority of the CFM Clinical Lead

Supervision Exercised:

Examples of Work Performed:

* Provide full scope care to the gynecologic, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patient

* Provide care in the outpatient clinic, OBED, and intrapartum unit

* Utilize limited obstetric ultrasound skills in the outpatient and inpatient setting

* Attend monthly practice meetings and participate in a minimum of one-practice and/or College of Nursing committees.

* Educate health care team students (APPs, medical students, residents) and actively participate in student evaluations

* Provide water birth option to low-risk patients

* Participate in practice development, promotion and community outreach.

* Active participation in health plan contracts.

* Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Instructor:

* Master's degree in midwifery from an accredited institution of higher education.

* Current AMCB certification

* Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State) or applicable certified midwife professional license.

o Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

Senior Instructor:

* Master's degree in midwifery from an accredited institution of higher education.

* Current AMCB certification

* Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State) or applicable certified midwife professional license.

o Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

* Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.

* Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Assistant Professor:

* Master's degree in midwifery from an accredited institution of higher education.

* Doctoral degree in nursing, midwifery, an appropriate area of science, or a related area from an accredited institution of higher education.

* Current AMCB certification

* Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State) or applicable certified midwife professional license.

o Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

* Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.

* Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Conditions of Employment:

* Must be willing and able to obtain current AMCB certification by date of hire.

* Must be willing and able to provide full scope contraceptive services and counseling on abortion services.

* Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN, APN, RxN licenses or applicable certified midwife professional license by date of hire.

* Must be willing and able to obtain current board certification as a CNM by date of hire

* Must be willing and able to obtain current DEA license within 18 months of hire.

* Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire

* Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire

* Must be willing and able to complete CAQH and all credentialing requirements by date of hire.

* Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.

* Must be willing and able to actively participate in health plan contracts.

* Must be willing and able to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.

* Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.

* Must be willing and able to work extra shifts if and when necessary to cover practice needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Current, active DEA Licensure

* Experienced in water birth and alternative labor/birth options

* Experience working in a high patient volume and/or high-acuity patient setting

* Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary clinical care teams

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$95,683 - $105,252 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/CNM,

$96,639 - $106,304 annually at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice /CNM

$97,596 - $107,357 annually at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice /CNM

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
