OVERVIEW:

The Senior Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (E, I&C) Design Engineer will work collaboratively with our team to lead the design and delivery of electrical, instrumentation and controls systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities across the region. This role supports the planning, design, and execution of projects, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, and helps ensure deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The position also provides technical leadership, mentorship to junior staff, and contributes to quality assurance and continuous process improvement.

DURING YOUR WORKDAY, YOU WILL:



  • Serve as a technical lead or key contributor, guiding and supporting a team to deliver effective electrical and I&C design solutions.
  • Lead and support electrical, instrumentation & controls design from planning through construction for water and wastewater projects.
  • Manage projects or discipline specific scopes, including budgeting, scheduling, resource coordination, and client communication to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Prepare engineering reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and complete technical design packages inclusive of:

    • Develop construction documents, including one-line diagrams, schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, control architectures, and instrument lists.
    • Design power distribution, motor control, lighting, grounding, backup power, and SCADA/control systems, including support for SCADA master planning.


  • Perform technical analyses, alternatives evaluations, and power system/arc flash studies using tools such as ETAP, SKM, or
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality documents.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, design revisions, and multiple concurrent assignments while supporting construction phase services, site visits, and client meetings.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards (including NEC), and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior staff, contribute to quality and process improvements, and support proposals, business development, and industry engagement as a subject matter expert.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:



  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • PE license in Texas (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • 7+ years of electrical and/or I&C design experience
  • 2+ years as a project manager or task leader
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Experience in water and wastewater consulting engineering
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution, NEC, ISA, and industrial control systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments independently and collaboratively
