JMT Technology Group, a leading provider of geospatial and information technology services and solutions, has an opening for a GIS Analyst. The GIS Analyst will be responsible for project support of maps and geographic information systems and data analysis.
Essential functions and responsibilities
- Perform data research, investigation, and verification
- Design and maintain geodatabases in ArcSDE
- Use ETL tools for data migration
- Develop, document, and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Evaluate new software and tools
- Automate repetitive geoprocessing tasks
- Create and publish map services
- Manage versioned geodatabases
- Assist project and task managers in formulating and implementing project plans and managing task-based work and regularly communicate task progress to the project manager
- Work directly with customers to identify and document requirements; determine how GIS technology can help meet customer needs and formulate and implement cost-effective GIS-based solutions
- Utilize GIS technology to perform complex and advanced spatial analysis and distills results into formats that are easy to comprehend
- Research, develop and offer innovative approaches to problem-solving
- Test and analyze custom applications or tools and coordinates with developers to address bugs and enhancements
- Assist with application deployment and testing at a client site
- Develop training materials and manuals
- Support field data collection using GPS and other mobile data collection tools
- Support GIS data creation, conversion and manipulation as needed
- Provide instruction to internal staff and clients
- Provide mentorship to junior team members, including GIS technicians and interns
Nonessential functions and responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Experience
- 2+ years of of experience in the application of GIS technology to solve clients' needs.
- Knowledge of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, including geospatial data creation, conversion, manipulation, and analysis.
- Knowledge of geodatabase administration principles and demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geodatabases.
- Experience using GPS technologies (i.e. Trimble and Leica) or mobile data collection tools.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Visio.
- Experience using AutoDesk or Microstation
- Experience performing data translation
- GIS to CAD, and vice versa, such as Esri's Data Interoperability extension or FME Workbench.
- Esri data to KML, such as Arc2Earth
- Experience with ModelBuilder and Python scripting
- Experience working with ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online
- Experience creating and publishing map services
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
