Position Summary
The Research Project Manager for Carmichael Lab will manage research project development from beginning to end across a variety of Artificial Intelligence pursuits in healthcare. Reports directly to Prof. Carmichael. Coordinate the development and implementation of many aspects of large AI studies. A particular emphasis is placed on studies involving Digital Pathology data and/or clinical notes. Responsibilities include overall project direction, supervision and direction of data collection and analysis, database management, grant support, presentation development, reporting and planning, and staff supervision. This position will collaborate with investigators across multiple departments, centers, and schools at UNC and elsewhere. Strong interpersonal skills and experience with interacting and working with diverse and/or vulnerable populations are essential to this position. The position requires substantial capacity to independently manage and coordinate research activities and staff across multiple projects. It also requires some programming background along with an inclination to learn and use other technologies such as large language models.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and two years of general research experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
Experience in academic research (particularly biomedical research)
Experience working with data and programming (e.g. python)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and coordinate activities with medical, hospital and government institutions or advocacy groups
