LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF MILITARY, TENNESSEE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (TEMA) DIVISION, DAVIDSON COUNTY Qualifications Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school AND experience equivalent OR Experience equivalent to two years as an Emergency Management Operations Officer with the State of Tennessee. Overview This role maintains situational awareness of events occurring across the State of TN by serving as a supervisory level liaison between the incident scene and agencies needed for the situation. This is a supervisory level class in the sub-series. An employee in this class provides and leads emergency operations support within the Watch Point to federal, state, local, and non-governmental organization stakeholders. This class differs from Emergency Management Operations Officer 2 in that an incumbent of the latter functions at the working level. Responsibilities - Supervises the monitoring and tracking of incidents and planned events such as hazardous material releases, radiological material transportation missions, and mass gatherings. - Performs quality control on all records and reports created by direct reports to ensure consistency and accuracy. - Serves as the 24-hour warning point supervisor for weather warnings, major transportation disruptions, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Department of Energy (DOE) incidents. - Supervises and directs operations officers receiving calls and notifications from Emergency Service Coordinators (ESC), Local Emergency Management Agencies from all 95 counties, and other public and private agency stakeholders. -Collects, interprets, and disseminates weather information from the National Weather Service for situational awareness of possible impacts. -Notify on-call personnel of incidents and missions and disseminate information relating to response and remediation actions. -Assists in the logistical coordination of state asset deployment and resource request efforts for the preservation of life, property, infrastructure, and environment - Operate and train others on equipment such as computers, radio consoles, monitoring software, site security systems, public alerting systems, federal communications, multi-line phones, and National Weather Service (NWS) weather radar and forecasting systems. -Officers may be required to work variable work schedules, including overnights, and may be asked to work in areas impacted by incidents or disasters.
