Construction Intern

At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Construction Intern to join our talented team in Somerset, New Jersey.

In this role, you will assist staff with achieving technical, safety, and administrative objectives. This developmental position will enable you to learn to apply theoretical knowledge to practical applications. You will support the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Project Engineers with receiving, tracking, and transferring project-related information to and from outside subcontractors, vendors, and clients, through the IPS design and CQV teams using integrated IPS technologies.

What You'll Do

• You will assist staff with the following:
  
  • Development of preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans as needed.
  • Maintenance of written project scopes as needed.
  • Receipt, tracking documentation, and transfer of information in the form of submittals and Requests for Information RFI
  • Facilitating communication between project participants and producing documentation of communication between project participants as needed.

The hourly rate for this role is $23-$25 an hour, based on experience, skill set, and education.

• Is pursuing a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited technical institution or college.

Safety

• 10% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
• Visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules.
• You may be assigned to the client site for an extended period of time.
• This is a safety-sensitive position.
• The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
