This position supports the business operations of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. The position is primarily responsible for assisting the Medical Billing Manager with the coordination of insurance benefits; referral management; maintaining the electronic medical records system; checking in clients; collecting and recording cash receipts; and interacting with faculty clinicians, students, patients, and their families, etc. in our dynamic and fast-paced training clinic. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Answer clinic phones (three incoming lines), including scheduling new and existing audiology patients and speaking with new speech clients from referrals regarding needs, scheduling, paperwork, etc.
- Check in/out patients - duties includes scanning paperwork, noting information, COVID screening, permits, copying documents, updating status on the schedule, appointment preparation follow-up and surfing through the schedule for missing items (referrals, paperwork, insurance, hearing aids, etc.). Processing payments for in-person and telehealth sessions, and assisting walk-ins with questions and/or hearing aid drop offs.
- Updating spreadsheets and sending patient paperwork - Includes "To Be Scheduled Speech", self-pay tracking, managing the electronic paperwork system, and PCP referral fax list.
- End-of-day closeout - credit card, cash, and check payments are verified in the patients' accounts.
- Email communications with admin action required.
- Other duties as assigned.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma and a minimum of 5 years relevant (i.e. clinical) work experience required.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with HIPPA regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

| Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report |
In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
