Description and Requirements

About Our Team

AI Ecosystem is a centralized AI organization delivering unified AI solutions across Lenovo's Intelligent Devices Group (IDG). We design intelligent, connected experiences spanning wearables, smartphones, tablets, laptops, and cloud services. For this internship, you will join a collaborative, fast-paced team of designers, product managers, and engineers working on next-generation AI-enabled experiences.

About the Role

We are hiring a UX Design Intern focused on AI experiences to support the design team in delivering intuitive, user-centered solutions across Lenovo's device and software ecosystem.

This is a role where you will contribute to clearly defined tasks and features under close guidance from other designers and leadership. You will gain experience across the design lifecycle: from early exploration to learning about implementation, all while building your craft and team collaboration skills.

What You'll Do

  • Support small, well-defined portions of larger UX initiatives (e.g., specific flows, components, screens, or states).

  • Create wireframes, user flows, and simple interaction models based on established design direction.

  • Produce visual refinements and asset updates aligned to existing design systems.

  • Develop low- to mid-fidelity prototypes to illustrate specific interactions or concepts.

  • Apply established design patterns and follow documented guidelines.

  • QA implementation to ensure design quality

Research & Iteration Support

  • Assist in preparing materials for user research (mockups, prototypes, note-taking).

  • Help synthesize research findings into organized summaries.

  • Make incremental updates based on usability feedback and design review input.

Collaboration & Learning

  • Participate in design critiques and team reviews.

  • Incorporate feedback thoughtfully and iterate quickly.

  • Observe cross-functional meetings to understand product and engineering constraints.

  • Learn how design intent is handed off to engineering and support documentation updates.

Craft Development

  • Build foundational skills in interaction design, prototyping, accessibility, and systems thinking.

  • Gain hands-on experience with AI-specific UX patterns

  • Strengthen presentation skills by sharing work in small group settings.

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, UX Design, or related field.

  • Portfolio demonstrating foundational UX skills (wireframes, flows, prototypes).

  • Familiarity with standard tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Understanding of basic UX principles and interaction patterns.

  • Strong willingness to learn and accept feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or projects related to AI, emerging technology, or cross-platform experiences.

  • Experience participating in usability testing (academic or project-based).

  • Exposure to design systems or component libraries.

  • Interest in accessibility and inclusive design practices.
