Job Overview
The Electronic/Electrical Controls Specialist Certified performs preventive and corrective maintenance, modifications and installation of electrical and electronically controlled equipment as directed.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions: * Coordinates material requirements, maintains good housekeeping practices and records on all assigned equipment. * Maintains and formats computer-controlled equipment within facilities systems (e.g. fire alarms, elevators, cranes, lathes, welding machines, etc.). * Works with engineering personnel to devise modification plans; works from detailed prints, schematics and drawings and verbal or written instructions; tests and analyzes data to effect proper maintenance to low voltage systems including: DC drive and variable speed (or frequency) drive motor controllers, UPS systems and related components, fire protection systems (fire alarms and fire suppression) electronic lock and security systems, elevators systems (traction and hydraulic), lifting device systems (derricks, cranes, hoists, etc.) and other PLC driven systems. * In addition to these duties this job will entail the full scope of the Electrician classification. * Lift minimum of 30-pound load up from the ground frequently. * Walk six hours per day. * Bend and stoop six hours per day. * Work overhead with minimum 20-pound load. * Push and pull frequently throughout the day. * Walk up/downstairs frequently. * Stand seven hours per day. * Climb ladders and scaffolding. * Wear PPE gear six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves). * Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously. * Timely and cost-effective performance of duties. * Harmoniously working with other employees and customers. * Working with the Project Principals to fully coordinate all activities. * Effectively coordinate a number of projects simultaneously. * Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure. * Effective written and oral communication skills. * Demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills. * Contributing to the successful completion of project initiatives.
Job Requirements
Mandatory: In addition to these duties this job will entail the full scope of the Electrician classification.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent. Must be pre-screened and approved by the Electronic Control Review Committee to ensure successful completion of an electronics vocational program, electronics military school or electronics apprenticeship program and minimum of 5 years directly related electronics experience may be substituted for educational requirements) plus minimum of 4 years' experience in industrial electricity.
- One of the following may be substituted for experience in industrial electricity:
A 4-year electrical apprenticeship program A 2-year electrical apprenticeship program and an additional 2 years' experience in industrial electricity - Must be certified in accordance with SSC standards.
Special Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Good Communication skills.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction.
- Ability to work with computers.
- Ability to work independently but follow specific detailed instructions.
- Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team- oriented environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license.
