Position Purpose
To set up and conduct a variety of laboratory tests and experiments in support of research studies directed by applying established methods, procedures, and techniques. Our laboratory is interested in studying mononuclear phagocyte (macrophages, dendritic cells, and monocytes) classification and function in mice and humans. Ongoing studies in our laboratory include (1) the role of interstitial macrophages in immunological diseases and (2) the role of B cells and mononuclear phagocytes in transplant immunology and cancer. We are looking for a technician to assist in these projects and work side-by-side with postdoctoral fellows and students to achieve project(s) objectives. This position accepts part-time or full-time applicants. Competence in several laboratory methods, procedures and techniques as well as the equipment and instruments. Willingness to work with/be exposed to hazardous materials such as radioactive materials, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals. Knowledge of computers and software applications.

Maintains the laboratory's extensive mouse colony, conducts laboratory experiments/tests, utilizing a range of established methods, procedures, and techniques with necessary preparations.

Prepares appropriate and understandable representations of data such as graphs, charts, tables, statistical summaries, etc. Analyzes data resulting from experimentation/testing. Summarizes results and prepares progress reports for oral presentation.

Instructs others in laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques and provides technical guidance and direction as required. Maintains computerized records associated with laboratory activities.

Laboratory maintenance including order lab supplies ((backup is to be emailed to the M&I office asap upon placing orders)); monitors laboratory equipment and instrument performance; obtains maintenance and repair as necessary.
