ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm and fluoroscopic procedures at level of Radiologic Technologist 2.

  • Is responsible for daily operational tasks such as: Patient flow, delegation of duties and assignment of tasks.

  • Participates in and/or completes performance appraisals and meets regularly with partners to provide feedback.

  • Maintains smooth and efficient workflow in the Diagnostic Radiology Department; is an active participant in scanning patients daily.

  • Responds to technical questions, concerns, and problems from Diagnostic Radiology and other Mercy staff, including physicians.

  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and coordinates with Manager and BioMed to ensure unplanned downtime is managed,

  • Ensures adequate par levels of supplies and linen; reorders as necessary.

  • In collaboration with the Manager/Supervisor, ensures compliance with regulatory bodies; completes and submits required QA metrics. Helps to identify areas where improvement may be necessary.

  • Assists Department Manager/Supervisor with training for new installations and upgrades to equipment and software as appropriate for site and licenses held.

  • Interviews, hires and oversees orientation of new partners.

  • Maintains training, competency, and orientation documents.

  • Assists with medical record/image sharing as necessary.

  • Documents and reports XR safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.

  • Assists with the supervision of radiography students. Provides input regarding student evaluations.

  • Assists leadership with regular staff meetings.

  • Maintains and ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies.

  • Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.

  • Evaluates the accuracy and quality of imaging and provides technical assistance to staff whenever necessary.

  • Assists Manager/Supervisor in monitoring quality assurance program to conform to federal, state, local, and facility regulations and guidelines.

  • Consults on work in progress to assure accuracy and completes work.

  • Performs and trains specialized and more difficult procedures.

  • Reviews current literature and attends meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in the field.

  • Expert level knowledge of electronic medical record and PACSand imaging equipment

  • Maintains policies and procedures for Diagnostic Radiology with input from Director, Manager and Radiologists.

  • Ensures proper staff scheduling to meet the needs of the department.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited radiography program

Five (5) years experience as a technologist required

Supervisory experience preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

ARRT Radiography registration required

IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the Driver's License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.

Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Works independently, with limited direct supervision.

SUPERVISES

Directly supervises partners in the Radiology Department.

Provides clinical supervision of allied health students and radiology aides.

$31.21 - $46.81
