Scope of Position:

The Social Services Driver/Custodian is responsible to drive up to and including a 16-foot box truck and utilize a hydraulic fork lift. This position shall transport food and other items to/from stores, agencies, distributors. This position is responsible for general cleaning of the Family Services office, Bays and Shop. Will assist Warehouse Attendant in the warehouse when time allows.

The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work. Able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals. Exercise good judgment.

Equipment: Motor vehicles, telephone, computer, copy/fax machine, 10-key calculator, proficient with janitorial equipment, including industrial vacuum, push broom, mop, ladder, hydraulic fork lift, power jack, power tools, tools including (hammer, screw drivers, nails, screws, nuts and bolts) multiple chemicals for cleaning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




    • Coordinate routes and pick up donated food and other items as assigned on a daily basis.
    • Assist with Seasonal projects, dropping off and picking up donation barrels from services provider and other community agencies.
    • Weigh donations as they come in and track them on the spreadsheet daily
    • Maintain Social Services bread truck by reporting any problems to the appropriate supervisor.
    • Keep truck fueled, and check oil each day. Keep clean at all times.
    • Assist with food box distribution and other assigned warehouse duties with Warehouse Attendant.
    • Report any damage of vehicles to supervisor. This may include a driving accident, scrape on vehicle, etc. Ensure that required documentation regarding the damage is completed.
    • Communicate to Supervisor when cleaning supplies are needing to be re-ordered.
    • Record Mileage of Bread Truck
    • Always maintain strict confidentiality.


  • Assist maintenances of grounds; keeping dumpster area and parking lot clean.
  • Assist with office custodian duties as needed.
  • Cleaning of the TSA vehicles as needed and oil changes up-to-date
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Will keep in good communication with Social Service Director


Physical Requirements:



  • Must be well groomed and adhere to the required dress code.
  • Must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminishing performance.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist body, drive for short/long distance at a time, stand for short/long periods of time, kneel, push, pull, have sense of touch, reach, grasp with hands and fingers, be able to climb up to 40 feet on a ladder, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, climb stairs, close vision, distance vision, talk, hear, have-eye hand coordination, have manual dexterity, speak and read, and working in noisy areas, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position.


Working Conditions:

This position may have frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated. May walk or stand on varied surfaces. May require work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.

Education and Work Experience:



  1. Education - H.S Diploma preferred but not required
  2. Work/Professional Experience - Must have a good driving record, a current driver license, Minimum of one (1) year experience performing custodian duties and light maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
