Job Description:

Responsible for directing all functions relating to water chemistry/treatment, maintenance and special equipment issues for Hixon Natatorium and the outdoor pool. Serves in supervisory backup role in absence of Director of Aquatics.
  • Maintains proper water chemistry and balance in both Hixon Natatorium and the outdoor pool. Performs tasks daily to ensure proper water filtration and preventative maintenance on related mechanical and special equipment systems. Inspects aquatics facilities and equipment daily and reports any issues, or unsafe conditions to the Director of Aquatics immediately. Cleans and makes general repairs of aquatics facilities and equipment, as necessary.

  • Assists with event management for intercollegiate swim meets. When necessary substitutes as lifeguard or secondary responder for PE classes, intercollegiate athletics practices, general recreation open swim, and other aquatic special events.

  • Assists with supervision of lifeguards. Assists with training and evaluating lifeguards to assist with water treatment. Assists with updating aquatics operations manual. When necessary, serves in supervisory backup role in absence of Director of Aquatics.

  • Assists with implementing all local, state, national university safety regulations.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Abides by NCAA Division III rules and regulations.

  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.

  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • One year of experience working with pool mechanical, filtration and chemical control systems.

  • Background in swimming pool and/or spa maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

  • Operating University Data system and pool equipment.

  • Knowledge in commercial pools/chemical treatment.

  • Ability to operate computers and software.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Certified Pool Operator or AFO license.

  • American Red Cross lifeguard certification.

  • Lifeguard Instructor certification.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).

  • Requires hours of work necessary to fulfill responsibilities, including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule in regards to beginning and ending of the workday.
