Job Summary
Installs, configures, monitors and maintains electronic access control systems in conjunction with Police and Facilities staff. Representative to all meetings for new construction during design phase; edit and approve security submittals. Provide expertise to FM Engineering for renovation projects involving card readers or electrified door devices.
Minimum Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. 5 years of experience with commercial electronic access control security systems including auto door operators, access control systems, and electronic door hardware integration.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • OSHA 10-Hour Training

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings and translate general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for the installation team and subcontractors.
  • Ability to handle the installation of electronic access control, asset tracking, electronic locking hardware, low voltage/cabling/termination and network components to support all aspects of access control technology.
  • Serve as a single point of contact for project manager, subcontractors and vendors performing work in the field.
  • Must be able to successfully troubleshoot an installation, order parts, and resolve problems.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution requirements as related to security hardware is required.
  • Maintains close working relationship with campus, Police, and Facilities Management staff.
  • Assists in the review of plans and specifications for the appropriate application of the security systems in the addition, modification, and upgrade of new and existing facilities to assure adherence with UTD Standards.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
