Description
OVERVIEW: This position will require a combination of office and field work. Applicants should have a minimum of 2-5 years professional experience in the field of hydrographic surveying and a minimum of 3 years' experience collecting and processing multi-beam and side-scan surveys. The successful candidate will oversee field data collection, data processing, analysis, report production, equipment maintenance and other duties as assigned. Candidate must be a good communicator and be able to work well in a team environment and have the ability to travel. DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:
- Acquire data in various marine environments using modern techniques and survey vessel operation using multibeam, singlebeam, sidescan, magnetometer, and sub-bottom.
- Plan and budget survey projects.
- Communicate with clients; report on projects.
- Support data processing, analysis, reporting, and proposal writing.
- Teach, train, manage and develop staff.
- Performs safe small vessel operations; responsible for basic boat maintenance
- Responsible for towing and backing trailers.
- Requires periodic travel, both in and out of state, and often irregular schedules including working during weekends and holidays.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2-5 years of professional hydrographic survey experience.
- NSPS Hydrographer certification is preferred but not required.
- USCG Captain's License is preferred but not required.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
- Ability to work in a team environment, self-manage, resourceful and manage others.
- Experience with data acquisition systems including: multibeam, singlebeam, sidescan, inertial navigation, sub-bottom profilers.
- Experience with industry standard software packages including: Hypack, Caris, QPS, POS Pac, ArcGIS, etc.
- Ability to perform field work, including travel (50 to 70%), weekends, holidays, and the physical ability to lift objects over 50lbs.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record, cleared background check and negative drug test result.
- A commitment to seeing projects through to completion, a high attention to detail and an enthusiastic attitude
