The Role This designer blends artistic sensibility with technical material knowledge to develop innovative, visually compelling materials for footwear and apparel across both performance and lifestyle categories. They'll collaborate cross-functionally with color scientists, texture specialists, product designers, and vendors while managing material databases and documentation.

Must-Haves



  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Adobe Suite fluency - Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Advanced knowledge of footwear materials design (performance + lifestyle)
  • Advanced knowledge of apparel materials design (performance + lifestyle)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office; able to maintain material databases across platforms (Aurora, Miro, Excel)
  • Basic experience with brief creation for new material development


Nice-to-Haves



  • Experience at an equivalent industry leader in footwear/apparel
  • Collaborative, team-oriented personality
  • Strong communication skills
  • Start-up or fast-fashion environment experience (think agile, less rigid structure)


Education & Experience Bachelor's degree + 5 years of directly relevant experience required. Alternatives accepted: PhD/Law + 3 yrs | Master's + 4 yrs | Associate's + 6 yrs | HS Diploma + 7 yrs.

Green Flag Candidate Profile Someone who has worked at a major footwear/athletic brand and a fast-fashion or lifestyle brand (Revolve, Alo, etc.) will stand out. Start-up experience is a plus - this team values adaptability over rigid corporate structure.
