About the Role

As an AI & Machine Learning Intern in the Operations Finance team, you will join a collaborative team focused on improving operational performance through data. We are looking for a motivated candidate to help apply machine learning and automation techniques to operational datasets, supporting predictive analysis and workflow optimization across the network.

This position requires the successful candidate to work on-site at our Walnut Creek corporate office at least three days per week.

What you'll do:

  • Identifying manual operational tasks and exploring automation opportunities
  • Building and testing models to classify and analyze structured business data
  • Analyzing operational performance data to identify efficiency patterns
  • Working with planning and scheduling data to explore forecasting approaches
  • Reviewing operational metrics to detect bottlenecks or variability
  • Presenting clear, data-driven insights to internal stakeholders
  • Developing lightweight prototypes that reduce manual effort and can scale over time
  • Translating analytical models into practical solutions that support real-world decision-making

You have these skills:

  • Proficiency in Python
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with common data and machine learning libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
  • Understanding of core machine learning concepts, including regression, classification, model evaluation, time series forecasting, and anomaly detection
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in evolving or ambiguous problem environments
  • Interest in applying machine learning to operational and business use cases

And these qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
  • Prior completion of basic accounting/tax courses required.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Extra credit if you have:

  • Practical experience with machine learning or AI projects
  • Please share GitHub, portfolio, or project examples demonstrating applied Machine Learning work

The hourly rate is posted for this position in California.
