| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
Campus Recreation provides a diverse and intentional recreational program in a safe, and accessible environment which enhances the social, mental, and physical well-being of the entire University community. With this mission as the focus, Campus Recreation maintains several facilities around campus to help students stay active. In addition to the Rams Head Recreation Center and the Student Recreation Center, there is an indoor and outdoor pool, a number of outdoor courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball and paddle tennis, and lighted fields for sport club practices/matches and team intramural sports. Students have about 50 sport clubs and more than 40 intramural sports for men's, women's, and co-rec teams. Campus Recreation has a unique dual reporting structure in which it reports to both Student Affairs and the Department of Exercise and Sport Science via the Campus Recreation Administrative Board. |
| Position Summary |
The
UNC Aquatics Coordinator will provide leadership and advisement to a diverse and comprehensive Aquatics program that offers approximately 30 programs serving more than 3,000 participants annually. The Coordinator will actively supervise and mentor student employees to create a safe, and accessible recreational environment for the University community. The primary purpose of the position is to develop, direct, and foster an aquatics-based learning environment and to oversee and administer Aquatics programs through direct interaction with students to enhance their academic and learning experience outside of the classroom setting. The position manages
UNC Aquatics student employees, creates leadership development opportunities, maintains and updates records, policies, procedures, and provides facility, risk, and event management support to Campus Recreation. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Aquatics for Campus Recreation.
**Current Water Safety Instructor Trainer certification or ability to acquire. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in a collegiate setting directly supervising student employees
- Excellent customer service skills
- Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certification preferred
- Lifeguard, First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to acquire upon hire preferred

| Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
