This position provides environmental permitting and compliance support to generating facilities and other company operations to ensure they are compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations and aligned with corporate environmental policies and procedures. Expertise required in the areas of industrial wastewater, surface water discharge, stormwater, and water withdrawal permitting and regulatory framework. Serves as an environmental subject matter expert and provides technical expertise and judgment to resolve basic environmental issues. Assists in investigations which include analyzing and interpreting trends and prepares technical documents on results. Conducts trend analyses, incident investigations for assigned function. Collaborates with environmental and business operations partners in permit applications and renewals. Maintains current knowledge on environmental laws and regulations and a working knowledge of technical aspects of regulatory requirements. Supports the evaluation of proposed and existing standards, regulations, and guidelines to assess the impact on company programs and facility operations; assists in comments to regulatory authorities. Works with and under the guidance of experienced team members, using established procedures, to support technical growth. This is the intermediate level of the EHS Consulting classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve more complex problems, in environmental, health, and / or safety areas of specialization, with general supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied. (NOTE: This position may serve as the entry level for individuals who have acquired a college degree with comparable experience external to the company, or for individuals who have acquired a Masters Degree in in an EHS field.)
