The Senior Manager of Emergency Department Coding will be responsible for overseeing the coding functions for both facility and professional services to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal reimbursement. This role is critical as it covers multiple MGB Emergency Departments, which collectively handle around 500,000 visits annually. This role requires deep expertise in Emergency Department coding guidelines, CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and payer-specific requirements for both facility and professional billing, trauma and critical care coding. Key Responsibilities: - Lead, mentor, and manage a team of coders for facility and professional services. - Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal/state regulations and payer guidelines. - Oversee coding audits, quality assurance processes, and ongoing staff education. - Collaborate with clinical, billing, and compliance teams to resolve coding-related issues. - Monitor KPIs, productivity, and denial trends to optimize revenue cycle performance. - Stay current with regulatory changes, coding updates, and industry best practices.
