Position Summary

Position Summary

The Transfer & Transition Student
Center (TTSC), under the direction of the Office of Advising Strategies (OAS),
seeks a forward-thinking and student-centered professional who is passionate
about transforming the dual credit/concurrent enrollment, transfer, and branch
transition student experience from transactional to truly transformational.
This role advances the institution's commitment to making bachelor's degree
completion accessible, attainable, and empowering through proactive outreach,
holistic advisement, and intentionally designed pathways.

TTSC strives to create experiences that
foster clarity, confidence, and connection. This role supports the evolution of
the Center's approaches to welcoming, supporting, and connecting transfer and
dual credit students in alignment with research, data, and emerging higher
education trends to ensure transitions are both efficient and impactful.

A central component of this work is the
ability to build and sustain strong, trust-based partnerships with secondary
schools, community colleges, and other higher education institutions. By
cultivating collaborative relationships and aligning shared goals, this role
helps create seamless pathways that benefit students across educational
systems.

The successful candidate will bring
adaptability, reflective practice, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Most importantly, they will foster an environment where dual credit and
transfer students feel valued, supported, and empowered to see themselves as
full members of the university community from their very first interaction.

Position expectations:

  • Coordinate the Dual Credit/Concurrent
    Enrollment Program, including:
    • Creating and maintaining Dual Credit Master
      Agreements between high schools and UNM
    • Coordinating the application and
      registration processes for dual credit/concurrent enrollment students
    • Preparing and providing enrollment and
      grade reports for partnering secondary education institutions
    • Supporting high school students in making
      higher education connections and planning for their higher education academic
      experiences
    • Connecting high school students to
      discipline-specific academic advisors, integrated advisors, and faculty
      advisors as appropriate for a high school student's individual dual
      credit/concurrent enrollment plan
  • Create and maintain academic relationships
    and partnerships primarily with secondary education institutions but also with
    other higher education institutions
  • Serve as a liaison to NM Higher Education
    Department (NMHED), NM Public Education Department (NMPED), and NM Dual Credit
    Partnerships (NMDCP), the state's chapter for the National Alliance of
    Concurrent Enrollment Programs (NACEP)
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach
    events/visits at secondary and higher education institutions
  • Develop and deliver informational
    presentations to small and large groups of students, parents, and community
    members as well as staff and faculty from secondary and higher education
    institutions
  • Provide input on and participate in the
    development, design, and implementation of outreach, recruitment, retention,
    and mentorship programs and initiatives for dual credit/concurrent enrollment,
    transfer, and branch transition students
  • Collaborate with multiple UNM departments,
    staff, and faculty members
    • Ensure a smooth transition for students to
      UNM
    • Augment the student support systems for
      students transitioning to UNM
    • Work to eliminate/minimize systematic
      barriers/constraints Dual Credit students encounter as they navigate the UNMsystem
  • Provide support for transfer
    programs/initiatives
  • Provide support for maintaining data and
    analyzing statistical information for both dual credit/concurrent enrollment
    and transfer trends

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working as an undergraduate advisor at a 4-year
    institution
  • Experience providing academic advisement from start to
    finish of an undergraduate degree program
  • Experience with coordinating peer mentoring programs and/or
    student success programming
  • Experience providing advisement to prospective students
  • Experience working with parents/guardians of students
  • Experience working with partners from secondary education
    institutions and/or multiple higher education institutions
  • Strong listening, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Advanced coordination and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse student
    population
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and
    professionally, both orally and in writing
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and
    procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies
    and procedures
  • Ability to plan, assess, and evaluate programs
