8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Program Manager for the office of Military and Veteran Services ( MVS) is responsible for coordinating the resources and support available to veteran and military-affiliated program participants. The Program Manager plans and implements student success initiatives for the office's student population and assists in the daily operations of all MVS programs.

  • Coordinate the operation of the MVS Office (Barnard 103) and Veteran Lounge (Barnard 108);
  • Provide exceptional customer service to military-affiliated students, including developing and implementing programs, tracking student engagement, and modifying content to meet participant needs;
  • Create, share, and interpret data and reports for internal and external partners;
  • Integrate MVS communications into various technology platforms and work with the Director to identify and create messaging to meet the immediate needs of programs as they arise;
  • Interpret and make policy-driven decisions within all programs; Make suggestions for policy adaptations and work with the Director and Certifying officials to revise and distribute policies to all relevant constituents annually;
  • Supervise undergraduate students and graduate students as applicable;
  • Knowledge of VA, DoD, and the State of NC education benefits.
  • Coordinate calendars, arrange professional travel, and manage the logistics of the office.
  • Track budgets and support programming by coordinating rooms and food for numerous events monthly.
  • Processing government education benefits for the military-affiliated population as needed.
  • Advising students on community and campus resources, presenting information, and collaborating with the campus community.
  • Engage students in the areas of transition, academic success, & career readiness (NEW)
  • Develop new implementations of tools within the MVS, such as Connect and Niner Engage, to meet the strategic goals of the University
  • Serve as the MVS Research and Assessment Liaison to Student Affairs Research and Assessment. Create, track, and present on all MVS-related data.

Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

  • Interpret and make policy-driven decisions within all programs;

Other Work Responsibilities
Other job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess, design, implement, and evaluate organizational, planning, and workflow systems to manage the programs associated with the MVS office.
  • Create and implement efficiency programs and initiatives to optimize personal and student employee workflow.
  • Coordinate calendars, arrange professional travel, and manage the logistics of the office.
  • Track budgets and support programming by coordinating rooms and food for numerous events monthly.
  • Processing government education benefits for the military-affiliated population.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of the Military and Veteran Services office.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Experience working in higher education;
  • Experience working with undergraduate student leaders and/or student employees;
  • Formal, or specialized, customer service training;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Gmail, and Google Calendar; skills with computer applications unique to UNC Charlotte.
  • Knowledge of Banner is a plus
