Job Summary

The Loudoun County, Virginia, Department of Building and Development (Department) is seeking applications for the position of Engineering Program Manager. This position reports directly to the Division Manager and is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

* Assuming responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Engineering Program to include equitable tasking of assignments, staff development and general managerial duties.
* Identifying and providing processing oversight on complex land development projects which will require a higher level of coordination, planning and technical expertise than typical applications processed by the Division.
* Leading and inspiring staff to perform at the highest level by setting a strong example and constantly striving to foster positive working relationships with fellow employees, County officials, contractors, and the public.
* Providing excellent customer service and support services to the department, the County organization, stakeholders and the public.
* Effectively implementing strategic process improvements initiated by management.

The ideal candidate will:
- Be a highly effective communicator capable of conveying complex technical information in a clear and tactful fashion.
- Possess a strong civil engineering background which demonstrates resourcefulness, flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and showcase the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision.

This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Salary commensurate with experience.



Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies with coursework related to the assigned area; five (5) years of progressively responsible professional engineering and construction management work experience to include two (2) years of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of criminal, credit, and DMV background checks. Must be able to inspect existing sites and active construction projects and may be exposed to inclement weather while in the field.
