We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong nonprofit (501 (c) (12)) or regulated-entity experience and fluency in related GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. The Accounting Manager will work directly with the VP of Finance to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance. This position plays a critical role in strengthening financial operations, improving systems and processes, and providing reliable financial insight to support organizational stability and long-term growth. This individual will need to be able to conduct audits for AP, AR, and Payroll, be the primary interface with auditors, inventory reporting/management, audit details/preparation, market closings, negotiating direct costs, depreciation of assets, etc. This individual with be helping delegate and segment tasks/internal control with the fiscal coordinator. *Oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and bank reconciliations. *Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis. *Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with GAAP and accrual accounting standards. *Maximize the functionality of accounting platforms to streamline workflows, enhance reporting, and reduce manual effort while maintaining strong internal controls. *Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal management reports in coordination with the VP of Finance. *Implement, maintain, and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure policy compliance. *Coordinate and support external audits; serve as the primary accounting liaison for annual audit activities. *Conduct internal reviews and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements. *Support tax preparation and filing activities, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. *Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and continuous-improvement-oriented team environment. *Stay current on changes in GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and other applicable regulatory frameworks. *Skills* Finance, Financial analysis, Accounting, Financial reporting, Sql, gaap accounting, gaap, gaap principles, accounts payable/receivable, accounts payable, payroll, audit management, audit preparation, audit support, excel analysis, quickbooks, microsoft 365, financial modeling, salesforce crm *Top Skills Details* Finance,Financial analysis,Accounting,Financial reporting,Sql,gaap accounting,gaap,gaap principles,accounts payable/receivable,accounts payable,payroll,audit management,audit preparation,audit support *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Qualifications *Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA preferred. *Significant experience in accounting or financial management; nonprofit, governmental, or regulated entity experience strongly preferred. *Strong working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements. *Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, and similar platforms. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. *Experience coordinating audits and working directly with external auditors. *Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and governmental accounting standards is a plus. *Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment. *Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight. *High ethical standards, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. Bachelor's degree in Accounting * Significant experience in accounting or financial management * 5-10 years of experience in accounting or financial management * Must be located in commutable distance to Salisbury, Maryland, United States * CPA or MBA * Experience in nonprofit, governmental, or regulated entity accounting * Strong working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements * Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, and similar platforms * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills *Experience Level* Expert Level *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Salisbury, MD. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $68.00/hr.
