Overview
Please note, this position will be based on a project in Shreveport, LA or Sullivan IN. In this role, you will manage project-specific safety and health concerns, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and the protection of employees, contract partners, clients, and the public. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leads all sitewide safety orientations, including daily/weekly team, subcontractor, scope preconstruction, and craft safety meetings, ensuring all personnel complete required Haskell safety orientations before beginning work and that visitors receive abbreviated orientations and proper escorting.
- Maintains all safety documentation (SDS, trade safety programs, postings, competentperson/training records), audits contract partner documentation for accuracy, and manages open issues reporting to ensure hazards are promptly abated.
- Supports full project planning/mobilization by developing Safety Action Plans, Emergency Evacuation Plans, coordinating with medical clinics, and establishing required site safety controls.
- Participates in selecting contract partner safety representatives and contract safety professionals, ensuring all minimum requirements are met, and overseeing their ongoing management.
- Conducts weekly project safety audits, performs at least one digital audit per week in the auditing platform, communicates findings to project teams/selfperform crews, and promotes hazard recognition and engagement.
- Participates in all accident/incident investigations, ensures immediate reporting to safety leadership, and assists the superintendent in timely documentation and corrective actions.
- Administers all workpermit programs (Hot Work, Confined Space, Excavation, LOTO, etc.) and enforces the Haskell Code of Safe Practices along with any clientspecific safety policies.
- Supports safety preplanning for upcoming work activities, providing solutionoriented guidance, and initiates immediate stopwork actions for serious or imminentdanger hazards while coordinating corrective measures with supervision.
- Coordinates and/or delivers required safety training, verifies taskspecific training for site personnel, mentors crew leaders on Daily Work Plans, and coaches teams on conducting weekly/monthly audits and using the audit platform.
- Manages daily responsibilities of Senior/Project Safety Coordinators, maintains ongoing communication with the Regional Safety Manager, and champions EnergyBased Safety practices on all assigned projects.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry
Minimum OTI OSHA 30 hour for the Construction Industry current within three (3) years Minimum OSHA 500 / 510 trainer certification Recognized safety certification (STS, CSST, CSSS) through BCSP or NCCER - Employee should be able to have a thorough understanding of and the ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and corporate regulations
- The ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
- Good interpersonal and communication skills required (both written and verbal). Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to understand and execute the company vision and values of Team, Excellence, Service, and Trust
- The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read application/form information.
- The associate must frequently sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
