Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages and oversees all activities of the Volunteer Services Department
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive recruitment, orientation, training, retention, and recognition strategy for volunteers
  • Develops and implements new programs, partnering with department leaders to coordinate volunteer projects and descriptions to help support the mission of the organization
  • Act as an organizational advocate and partner with community agencies to collaborate on community-based volunteer efforts
  • Communicates with volunteers to build relationships to help attract and retain service hours
  • Serves as a liaison between Mercyhealth Administration and the Volunteer Auxiliary Board
  • Prepares and monitors department budgets
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating department staff
  • Develops, revises, and implements policies and procedures, including performance standards of the volunteers to help enhance and maintain quality of service
  • Manages volunteer relations issues and provide guidance to the organization on volunteer policies, procedures, and job functions
  • Provide volunteer operational oversight for the gift shop, Thrift Shop, Hospitality House and other volunteer-based support programs

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a college or university is required. Ten or more years in a leadership role in a Volunteer setting will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
Require five to seven years in a leadership role in a Volunteer organization, preferably in a hospital setting. Two to three years of volunteer leadership experience is required.

Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
Good planning and strong organizational skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Previous fundraising experience.

Special Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision, and ability to adjust focus with occasional distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.


Level of Supervision

Work requires a high level of independent judgment. This position has substantial latitude for independent action. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; employee adherence to annual education and certification requirements


Supervises

Directly supervises Volunteer Coordinators and Lifeline Coordinator. Supervisory responsibilities are conducted in accordance with directives of management, the organization's policies, and applicable laws.

PAY RANGE:

$73,107.51 - $116,972.01
