Description

Atlantic Union's Enterprise Internship program is a professional development opportunity for local diverse students to gain practical work experience, helping students become better prepared to enter the financial industry post-graduation. Students have the ability to build professional networks and receive training and mentoring throughout the program.

Atlantic Union's Teammate Experience Intern role is designed to introduce college students to Human Resources Data Analytics. It is our intent to give the Intern real assignments. Assignments that stretch the Intern, provide the Intern with valuable experience, and allow the Intern to contribute to the Human Resources Department.

Position Accountabilities

The Intern is provided with assignments that include three exposures across the HR/Teammate Engagement Team through advanced data and analytics.

Exposures include:



  • Inclusive Culture & Engagement
  • Teammate Relations and HRBP function
  • Change Management


The intern will also get the opportunity to:



  • Design and build dynamic dashboards from scratch to translate raw data into narratives that support the HR Function.
  • Synthesize engagement, culture, Teammate Relations, and data into business relevant insights and impact reports
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data cleaning, conditional formatting, data visualization) and Tableau
  • Ability to connect data trends to business outcomes, particularly within teammate relations, culture & inclusion groups and change management to support
  • Partner with Change Leadership stakeholders to define dashboard requirements, success measures, and reporting cadence for the Change Leadership Office portfolio dashboard.
  • Design and build dashboard views that track portfolio health (e.g., pipeline, active initiatives, stage/progress, milestones, readiness, adoption indicators, communications/training completion, resourcing).
  • Develop and maintain data models and metric logic that support consistent portfolio reporting (e.g., initiative taxonomy, change impact, readiness scoring, adoption/progress indicators).
  • Provide "story behind the numbers" insights: identify portfolio trends, change saturation signals, risks, dependencies, and opportunities for proactive intervention.
  • Design and develop a Teammate Relations dashboard to track case themes, resolution timelines, repeat friction points, and emerging risk patterns, translating data into insights that support proactive leadership interventions.
  • Partner with HRBPs and BLI Partner to build a prototype Line of Business (LOB) workforce dashboard that integrates key metrics (e.g., attrition trends, engagement scores, span of control, performance distribution, etc.) to support data-informed consulting with LOB leaders.
  • Support development of consistent data model and metric definitions to ensure dashboards are scalable, repeatable, and aligned across HRBP, Teammate Relations, Change Management, and Culture & Inclusion functions.


Examples of value-added deliverables this role will work on during the internship are:



  • Internship End -Executive Business Review for Enterprise Internship Program
  • Quarterly - Impact Reports for culture and inclusion groups (June EOM completion)
  • Quarterly - TRG Scorecards and Dashboard enhancements
  • Change Leadership Office dashboard -MVP (initial release) + iterative enhancements along with a user guide and SOP
  • Teammate Relations Dashboard- enterprise view of case trends and workforce risk indicators
  • Line of Business Dashboard- MVP build with core talent metrics


Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Manager of Inclusive Culture & Engagement and has a hybrid residency.

Position Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Position Requirements



  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Current Degree Concentration in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Business Administration with analytics concentration, HR management with analytics concentration
  • Advanced Data & Dashboard Development
  • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university is required, and Students must be undergraduates entering their junior or senior year or currently pursuing a graduate level degree
  • Must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday
  • Must be able to travel to Cox Road in Glen Allen, VA or other offsite locations for group events related to the Enterprise Internship program.
  • Must submit a resume and cover letter highlighting accomplishments, professional and academic goals, and expectations of this internship position
  • Submission of transcripts and two professional or academic references


Knowledge & Skills



  • Advanced proficiency with demonstrated application in Microsoft excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data modeling, dashboard creation
  • Advanced proficiency with demonstrated application in Tableau
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
  • Must be able to function well with indirect supervision
