Job Summary:
The Commercial/Truck Engine Technical Communicator reports directly to the Technical Services Manager and is responsible for the following: Technical Communication between dealer, factory and customers; retrieval and distribution of technical information; handling technical inquiries from all dealer branches, field, shop and customers; identifying and prioritizing product problems; managing and monitoring all product improvement/product support plans and other factory requested programs; provide assistance to other department members and all Fabick personnel as required; and perform other miscellaneous duties as requested by management. Candidate must possess strong technical problem-solving capability.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for all technical communication with the factory on a corporate basis, as it applies to Electric Power, Marine, Industrial and Truck Engine products. Provide a centralized point of contact with factory engineers regarding specific product problems and resultant solutions. Work with Caterpillar Product Support Managers and their respective business units as it relates to Product and/or Commercial Impact issues. Place and Monitor Prove design iron for field follow projects.
* Distribute technical information, as it relates to Commercial/Truck Engine Product to the various Power Systems departments, Fabick branch stores, and customers as need dictates. Ensure proper use of all service information; administer use and distribution of Technical Information Bulletins and CPI status reports. Participate in the Bi-monthly PPM's.
* Responsible for technical inquiries from all Fabick branch locations and customers. Assist in troubleshooting and identifying root cause of product issues. Assist with failure analysis and identifying operation/application issues. Provide assistance in parts reusability or salvage procedures. Assure adherence to applicable specifications. Provide advice on warranty matters and environmental compliance and regulations. Investigate accidents. Interpret gas analysis and other fluid sample results.
* Responsible as the point of contact for Fabick' s TEPS Dealer network for technical assistance and advice on technical repairs, customer complaints and warranty issues.
* Responsible for identifying and prioritizing product problems. Summarize technical matters as to the circumstance of the product failure. Summarize commercial impact of product failure. Work in conjunction with sales management, parts management, and service management to determine priorities for problem resolution. Communicate with other in-house departments and branches on problem resolution status and needed support. Prepare materials for Product Problem Management meetings and cover with shop and/or field technicians as required.
* Responsible for all product improvement and other factory requested programs. Monitor and manage PIP/PSP completion rate as related to Commercial and Truck engine product. Assist parts and service departments with implementing updates.
* Provide and manage Commercial & Truck Engine Goodwill. Serve as Liaison between factory reps and service departments and/or TEPS dealers. Generate and submit goodwill requests for approval and distribute to appropriate personnel for processing.
* Assist other members of the service and sales departments to ensure the efficiency of service repairs and/or project commissioning.
* Represent Fabick at any meetings as deemed necessary by Management. Travel throughout the territory as required, to assist branch personnel and/or customers with product performance, assembly, and other related matters.
* All other duties as assigned.
