The Division of Hospital Medicine is seeking an Internal Medicine physician to provide care on a Hospital Medicine ward service as well as the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) service at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and undertake teaching activities in the Department's Graduate Medical Education Program.



The BMT Hospitalist will provide overnight coverage of blood and marrow transplant and other malignant hematology service patients. The responsibilities include direct clinical care, supervision and teaching of residents and medical students, and research pursuits.

Essential Functions

  • Provide in-house overnight coverage for BMT service, including new admissions and care for existing patients.
  • Lead "rapid response" and "code blue" teams.
  • Monitor progress of admitted patients, adjust therapeutic interventions, and engage in specialty consultation when appropriate.
  • Perform invasive diagnostic procedures to include lumbar puncture, paracentesis, and others as competency permits
  • Directly teach medical students in all four years in the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
  • Strive to improve clinical processes, as well as patient care, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
  • Participate in the quality improvement framework of the units.
  • Regularly attend section/divisional/departmental meetings and educational events, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Must have the following prior to effective date of appointment:



  • Medical degree (MD or DO).
  • Completion of a three-year internal medicine residency.
  • Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board
  • Valid DEA license for Schedule II-V, and all independent prescriptive authority therein
  • Valid ACLS certificate
