Job Summary

Guides clinical support staff, ensuring adherence to clinical workflows, and maintaining compliance with FIU Health policies and procedures. Leads training and competency management for clinical staff, supports faculty in the education of medical students during Mobile Health Center (MHC) rotations, and tracks required certifications and performance standards. Provides direct patient care, assists providers with exams and procedures, and performs administrative tasks essential to efficient, high-quality clinical services.

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a NeighborhoodHelp Clinical Lead to join our team of professional.

Guides clinical support staff, ensuring adherence to clinical workflows, and maintaining compliance with FIU Health policies and procedures. Leads training and competency management for clinical staff, supports faculty in the education of medical students during Mobile Health Center (MHC) rotations, and tracks required certifications and performance standards. Provides direct patient care, assists providers with exams and procedures, and performs administrative tasks essential to efficient, high-quality clinical services.

  • Serves as a lead to the clinical support staff to ensure adherence to clinical workflows, protocols, and customer-service expectations.
  • Works closely with the Associate Director of Administrative Services and/or designee to monitor clinical operations, identify workflow gaps, and resolve operational issues.
  • Serves as the lead trainer for onboarding skills validation, competency updates, and continuing education for clinical support staff.
  • Tracks required staff trainings, certifications, competencies, and renewal dates to maintain full compliance with FIU Health and departmental standards.
  • Provides support to staff, faculty, and students for questions related to clinical procedures, operations, and patient flow.
  • Travel required between campus and MHC locations.
  • Performs patient intake and initial assessments, including vital signs, medical history, chief complaint, medication reconciliation, and verification of patient information.
  • Assists physicians and allied healthcare professionals with examinations, procedures, treatments, and medication administration.
  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.
  • Completes accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with policies and best practices.
  • Performs basic onsite laboratory testing, phlebotomy, EKGs, and processes prescription refills as directed by providers.
  • Educates patients on medications, diagnostic tests, and follow-up care while supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs essential duties in emergencies such as hurricanes, storms, and/or any other university emergency closing. Is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification from a department administrator.
  • Works with and/or resides with minors and/or vulnerable
  • persons within their role.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Five (5) years of general patient care experience.

CPR/Standard First Aid Certification

Graduate of an accredited medical program (e.g., MA, CNA, CCMA, EMT, LPN)
