Responsibilities:

The HR Generalist (AskHR) provides first-line assistance to employees, applicants, leaders, and the public regarding HR policies, processes, systems, and general human resources topics. This role supports most interactions over the phone and requires strong HR knowledge, effective communication skills, and the ability to assess and resolve a wide range of inquiries.

The HR Generalist offers policy guidance, assists with HR transactions, updates HRIS systems, and partners closely with employees and leaders to support employment, benefits, compensation, employee programs, and other HR-related needs. The role also involves issue triage, conflict resolution, risk identification, and escalation to specialty teams when appropriate. This position serves as a subject matter expert for designated HR knowledge areas and provides training, program administration, and ongoing support for organization-wide employee programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support to employees, managers, applicants, and the public on HR processes, systems, policies, and general inquiries.

  • Deliver guidance and coaching to leaders and employees regarding HR best practices, procedures, and policy interpretation.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in HR systems and assist internal partners with transactions related to resource actions, benefits, and talent acquisition.

  • Assess employee and manager situations for potential risks and recommend next steps using conflictresolution and policy-aligned approaches.

  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge across HR domains, including benefits (FMLA), compensation, employee relations, employment, HR records, and employee programs.

  • Document all customer interactions accurately in HR systems to support reporting, analysis, and escalations.

  • Function as the AskHR knowledge-area lead for at least one HR topic-developing tools, maintaining materials, and supporting team training needs.

  • Escalate complex or specialized issues to appropriate HR teams for resolution.

  • Administer employee programs such as Employee CareFund, Education Assistance, and HR Pipeline Programs, including redesign, screening, selection, onboarding, and community outreach.

  • Represent AskHR in internal meetings, orientations, and training sessions.

  • Provide back-up support to Regional HR Managers and HR Generalists.

  • Participate as an engaged and collaborative member of the AskHR team.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Four or more years of experience in HumanResources required.

  • High School Diploma/GED required,

  • Ability to work with confidential information with a high level of professionalism associated with the area of Human Resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and via telephone with employees and applicants.

  • Written communication skills, as well as business writing and presentation skills, are required.

  • Requires strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail in providing accurate information, associated documentation, data entry, and meeting quality standards.

  • Must be experienced with various computer systems, including Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able to work cooperatively with other employees and function under pressure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources

  • PHR certification
