POSITION SUMMARY

The Mental Health Supervisor provides oversight, guidance and coaching to all Mental Health Technicians (MHT). The Mental Health Supervisor is responsible for partnering with Human Resources for MHT staffing, training and performance management. This role also partners with Nursing to ensure the MHT staff feel confident and engaged in their role and are providing superior patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years' experience working with a psychiatric patient population desired. Must have demonstrated success in organizational skills, communication abilities, leadership skills and work performance as a Mental Health Technician. Two (2) years' of supervisory experience is preferred.

Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field preferred. High School diploma (or equivalent) required.


Qualifications

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Supports facilitation of MHT relevant topics during new staff orientation.
  • Provides direct supervision of MHTs and sets the communication and training strategies for the Lead MHT Program.
  • Provides hands on training and mentorship for MHTs in the milieu.
  • Ensures MHT Performance Management is executed in a fair and consistent manner in alignment with the union contract (i.e. disciplinary and appraisal processes).
  • Functions as a certified CPI/CPR trainer.
  • Serves as a role model and coaches the proper behaviors during Codes and through camera reviews.
  • Collaborates with HR and Nursing to develop and facilitate training programs that address current or anticipated needs of MHTs. Monitor Health Stream compliance.
  • Plans consistent and mandatory MHT Town Hall Meetings and other communication mechanisms.
  • Supports MHT hiring by reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews and making hiring decisions.
  • Acts as role model for MHTs and picks up MHT shifts in emergency situations.
  • Plans and coordinates Mock Code 100 schedules throughout the year.
  • Investigates work related injuries and report findings to Corporate Loss Manager.
  • Supports HR Director with Teamster grievances/arbitrations.
  • Adheres to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
  • Participates in hospital committees as assigned, for example Safety Committee.
