Are you looking for an exciting career with an industry leading turbomachinery/jet engine aerospace engineering company with cutting edge products, unique niche markets, and a highly skilled expert workforce? Then you have come to the right place! Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT), a Kratos Turbine Technologies company, is a growing world-class turbomachinery company located in beautiful Jupiter, Florida USA, which employs 300+ engineers and technicians with over 4,000 combined years of aero engine (military and commercial), industrial, and space turbomachinery experience. With a deep bench of experience in each discipline, FTT has been growing steadily for 25 years. We specialize in next-generation technologies for aircraft engines, rocket turbopumps, and industrial power equipment, and focus on the development and production of small, affordable, high-performance jet engines for cruise missiles and unmanned aerial systems (UAS). We provide a one-stop shop with capabilities in design, aerodynamics, performance, heat transfer and secondary flow, rotor dynamics and bearing design, structural analysis and life predictions, manufacturing, testing, and field support. Our Turbine Technologies division also provides engineering services, testing services, and material solutions for military and commercial engines, space propulsion, and industrial power-producing applications. Additional offices in Derby, UK and Wildau, Germany extend FTTis reputation for engineering excellence to the European marketplace and provide access to a European supply chain and next generation manufacturing capabilities. Our parent company, Kratos Defense and Security Solutions, leverages cross-industry capabilities to deliver innovative, cost-saving solutions for all its customers. This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment. General Job Summary: Designs and analyzes aircraft mechanical, propulsion, component structures, systems, and processes. Carry out design and performance for new and redesign turbine hardware, non-turbine engine structures, field failures and production support. You will be provided with personal mentoring and guidance from world-class turbomachinery engineers while transitioning your educational background to real world application in one of the following engineering discipline areas: Aerodynamics Performs airfoil design and computational fluid dynamics analyses for commercial, space and military engine programs. Responsibilities will include all aspects of the aero-design process including conceptual design, airfoil and flow-path geometry creation through utilization of CAD programs, computational fluid dynamics analyses, identifying and resolving complex aerodynamic technical challenges, along with test correlation and support. This position provides opportunities for diverse technical challenges to work on a unique set of advanced programs in a close team environment. Design Responsibilities will include all aspects of the design process including: clean sheet conceptual design, preliminary structural and heat transfer analyses, working closely with the analytical community to solve complex technical objectives, product definition through CAD modeling, GD&T, and drafting, working with in-house machinists, manufacturing operation engineers and suppliers to acquire components efficiently and cost effectively, supporting hands-on in house assembly and instrumentation, and provide test support. Heat Transfer Assists in the development of airfoil cooling designs, secondary flow requirements, and advanced heat management systems, through classical physic-based hand calculations and computational simulation of heat transfer, fluid dynamic behavior and correlation with experimental simulation and engine testing. Manufacturing Operations Engineer The manufacturing operations engineer (MOE) will have the desire and educational background to support projects with requirements related to manufactured hardware. Professional or internship experience is preferred but not required. This role will require basic understanding of project & manufacturing engineering, as the MOE will support integrated product teams (IPTs) by setting up and maintaining Bills of Materials (BoMs), managing internal & external manufacturing-related activities, maintaining external supplier relationships, and interfacing with Quality Engineering to ensure that product and non-product are in line with company quality procedures and to disposition any non-conforming material. Background in metallurgy, joining operations, coatings, and additive manufacturing techniques are a plus but can be learned on the job. Structures Responsible for the structural design and analysis of new or upgraded turbomachinery hardware, focused on stress, vibration, and life analyses. Through physics based finite element analysis and classical hand calculations, the structural engineer will analyze complex components and assemblies exposed to extreme loading and temperature environments. Working in an interdisciplinary team, the engineer will evolve the design based on these results to meet all requirements. Essential Job Functions:
