Summary

The Director, Regional Operations oversees and drives the operational performance, strategic growth, and profitability of DSV's operations within the assigned region. This role focuses on operational excellence, leadership, client satisfaction, and alignment with corporate objectives.

Region: This regional position will cover the branches of Chicago and Indianapolis.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Develop and implement regional business strategies aligned with DSV's objectives.
  • Identify growth opportunities, market trends, and areas for operational improvement.
  • Set and monitor regional performance goals, KPIs, and financial targets.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure efficient and timely freight forwarding services, including air, sea, road, and multimodal logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with international, national, and local freight regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Implement strategies to drive operational efficiency and enhance profitability.
  • Manage the regional budget, including cost control and revenue growth.
  • Develop and execute initiatives to optimize financial performance and achieve profitability targets.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, vendors, carriers, and business partners.
  • Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to develop and execute regional sales strategies.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and service providers to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Ensure service agreements meet quality standards and cost expectations.
  • Travel as required.



Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Directly supervise Branch Managers, General Managers, and/or operational staff across the assigned region.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching for professional development.



Educational background / Work experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • 7 years of progressive leadership experience in the transportation and logistics industry, with proven success in regional or divisional management is preferred.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience managing multi-site operations in the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Familiarity with industry regulatory requirements and standards.



Skills & Competencies



  • Lead Yourself:Strong analytical mindset with expertise in data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead Your Team: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team, including Branch Managers, General Managers, and operational staff. Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams.


  • Lead Your Business: Deep knowledge of freight forwarding, warehousing, and global logistics operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region.


Language skills



  • Fluency in English is required.



Computer Literacy



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and other relevant software applications.



Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions

Physical Demands

Work is generally sedentary, with no specific need for physical coordination or effort. May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities. Hours can be extensive as well as occasionally staggered for multi-shift access. While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Minimal travel maybe required for this role domestically and internationally.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described above are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. For this position, the expected base pay is:$138,500-$208,000 / Annual. Actual compensation will bedeterminedbased on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy.
