Healthcare Budget and Financial Planning Manager

Grady Health System
life insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement
United States, Georgia, Atlanta
Apr 13, 2026

Whatever the role, everyone at Grady is part of something bigger. Choosing a career at Grady is choosing to be part of a legacy of service and commitment to our communities. If you want to make a difference, we want to hear from you.

Job Summary

Atlanta, GA | Primarily Remote | Full-Time

Atlanta has a safety net. Most people think about the doctors, the nurses, the emergency bays. But behind every patient who receives care at Grady, there is a budget that made it possible. A plan someone built, defended, and held together when it needed holding.

The Role

As our Budget and Expense Manager, you will report to the Director of Financial Planning and Analytics and own the annual budget process for a system operating at remarkable scale. You will lead a team of analysts, partner with operational leaders, and be the person who takes a room full of numbers and turns it into something leadership can actually use. Not just a report. A direction. A decision.

What Your Days Look Like

You catch a trend in a variance report before anyone has to ask about it. By afternoon you are in a working session with a director, helping them understand the gap between their plan and their actuals and mapping a path forward. You do not just live in the numbers. You translate them.

When budget season arrives, the tempo changes and you are ready for it. You have navigated at least three full annual budget cycles inside a healthcare environment. You know the pressure, you know the complexity, and you know how to deliver a plan the CFO can stand behind.

What You Bring

A bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is where it starts.

Six or more years of experience in financial planning and analysis, including a minimum of three complete annual budget cycles within a healthcare setting. You have built and managed operating budgets inside large, complex facilities, worked through capital budget processes, and you know every layer that comes with that territory.

Your Excel skills are the real kind. Financial modeling, scenario analysis, cost accounting, and navigating large datasets without breaking a sweat. You make it do things other people did not know it could.

You are fluent in ERP and budgeting platforms, whether that is Workday, Lawson, Strata Jazz, Axiom, or comparable systems. You understand how purchased services, labor costs, and departmental expenses flow through these systems because you have lived inside them through multiple FP&A cycles.

You have led analysts or finance teams, and you understand that great leadership means growing your people, not just directing them.

A master's degree in business or healthcare administration is preferred, as is experience presenting financial insights to executive leadership and a background in large, complex health systems.

Why Finance at Grady

Most finance roles keep you at a comfortable distance from the work that actually matters. Not this one. At Grady, when you protect the budget, you are protecting a promise this city has counted on for over a century. Real visibility with executive leadership, genuine room to grow, and a primarily remote environment that trusts you to deliver.

Some careers are just careers. This one is something you will actually remember.
