DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs standard diagnostic trouble-shooting, repair and maintenance of sophisticated and complex electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical biomedical and laboratory equipment. Examples include ventilators, ultrasound infusion devices, surgical tables, patient monitoring systems and other electro-mechanical and microprocessor based instrumentation. Repairs and maintains other non-direct patient care equipment. Evaluates new, proposed and existing equipment and related maintenance programs making recommendations for changes. Performs acceptance inspection of new biomedical equipment and ensures equipment meets manufacturers' specifications for safe and proper use. Completes purchase orders for parts, services and supplies. Contributes to continuous quality improvement projects and activities. Fulfills team roles as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • College level or equivalent electronics training and experience.

  • On the job training in a hospital medical facility.

  • 2 to 5 years practitioner-level experience in medical equipment repair and maintenance.

  • Must be willing to travel for educational purposes.

  • Ability to display expert judgment in decision making in expedient situations where patient safety may be at risk.

  • Working knowledge of regulatory agencies codes and standards for hospitals and clinics (title 22, TJC, AAMI, NFPA, etc).

  • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

  • General IT and cybersecurity awareness as it pertains to the healthcare environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree in electronics.

  • Work experience in an academic healthcare institution.

  • Equipment manufacturer training certification(s).

  • AAMI Certified Biomedical Electronic Technician (CBET). Network Certification(s).

  • Experience training from manufactures on specialized devices.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Required to be part of the rotating on-call staff covering nights, holidays and weekends.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $92,812 - $115,279 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $44.45 - $55.21

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
