Job Description




As a Security Guard - Armed Foot Patrol in East Granby, CT, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security-related incidents, and support access control and visitor interactions. You will communicate clearly, document observations, and respond to situations with calm professionalism. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Maintain an armed, professional presence while conducting access control and visitor screening activities, helping to deter unauthorized entry and/or prohibited items.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with site contacts and local public agencies as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas, checking for unusual activity, unsecured doors, and/or policy violations; working conditions may vary by assignment.
  • Complete security-related reports and logs, including patrol activity, incidents, and observations, and communicate pertinent information to supervision during shift turnover.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • A state, county, and/or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
