The Enhanced Relationship-Centered Communication (ERCC) Educator is responsible for delivering evidence-based communication skills training to clinicians and healthcare teams across the organization. Through partnership with the Academy on Communication in Healthcare (ACH), the ERCC Educator facilitates structured workshops that promote relationship-centered care, strengthen communication skills, and enhance the patient, family, and provider experience.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Essential Duties:
    • 1.1. Facilitate ERCC workshops using established ACH curriculum and instructional methods.
      1.2. Deliver engaging, interactive sessions that promote skill acquisition and reinforce communication best practices.
      1.3. Model relationship-centered communication behaviors and provide clear, actionable feedback to participants.
      1.4. Maintain fidelity to the ERCC curriculum and participate in ongoing facilitator development sessions.
      1.5. Support a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all participants.
      1.6. Collaborate with program leadership to refine course delivery, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to broader communication initiatives.
      1.7. Maintain required training records, attendance documentation, and feedback summaries as needed.
      1.8. Serve as an organizational ambassador for exemplary clinical communication practices.
  • 2. Workshops Facilitated:
      • Facilitate ERCC workshops using established ACH curriculum and instructional methods.
      • 4.5-hour Combined Course: Building Trust and Assessing Understanding (SS1, SS2 & SS3)
      • 3-hour Course: Building Trust and Communicating with Empathy (SS1 & SS2)
      • 1.5-hour Course: Educating and Assessing Understanding (SS3)

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor?s degree in business, public health, healthcare or other related field is required. Master's degree in a health care discipline, public health administration or related field pertinent to this role strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience working within clinical discipline required. Demonstrated commitment to high-quality, patient-centered communication. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to complete facilitator training and participate in ongoing development. Prior experience in teaching, coaching, facilitation, or staff development. Previous involvement in patient experience, quality, or communication initiatives.

LICENSURE

Active RN, APP, MD, or another qualified clinical licensure preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentations. Training in performance improvement methodologies is strongly preferred. A passion for improving the delivery of healthcare and the patient experience of care across the continuum of care. An ability to work collaboratively with and influence individuals at varying levels within the organization. Experience delivering results in a matrixed work environment. Must be flexible, team-oriented, able to work independently and autonomously, a critical thinker and committed to learning and growth. Highly organized and able to oversee multiple projects at one time. Ability to use PC applications is necessary for functions of screening, documentation and composition, report preparation, and presentations. Demonstrates competency in documentation, project coordination, with an understanding of diverse cultures. Outstanding problem-solving skills and creative management of issues.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. They are also required to stand and walk. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. This noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Incumbents as well as external and internal applicants who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without the assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case-by-case basis.
