About the Medical/Surgical Unit Our Med Surg Unit is a 25-bed department providing comprehensive care to patients from Mason County and surrounding West Michigan communities. This unit cares for a wide range of medical conditions, including:
- Pneumonia and respiratory illnesses
- Cellulitis and infectious processes
- Kidney failure and acute/chronic kidney injury
- Diabetes-related conditions and hyperglycemia
- Ulcers and wound care needs
- Geriatric and confused elderly patients
- Alcohol-related health concerns
- Sepsis
- Select psychiatric patients
Med Surg offers a broad clinical experience with a supportive team environment.
About the Emergency Department Our 25-bed Emergency Department features 16 state-of-the-art treatment areas, including two trauma bays, and provides rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization, and emergency interventions. Highlights include:
- Helicopter transport agreements with Level I and Level II trauma centers
- Services for minor injuries and illnesses
- Advanced equipment and highly skilled emergency staff
Float RNs gain valuable experience in high-acuity and fast-paced emergency care.
About the ICU Ludington Hospital's 6-bed ICU provides high-touch, high-quality critical care. Nurses are drawn to our ICU for:

About the OB Unit Our 8-bed Obstetrics Unit, renovated in 2019, includes:
- 3 Labor & Delivery rooms
- 5 Postpartum rooms
- An experienced, stable team of 13-15 RNs
The OB team is known for excellent Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, and Postpartum care. As the primary inpatient OB service for Mason County and surrounding communities, we serve families from areas including Cadillac, Lake County, and Oceana County.

Scope of Work The Float RN:
- Provides safe, ethical, and accountable nursing care in accordance with ANA professional standards and Michigan state regulations
- Demonstrates competency using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Upholds professional performance standards including: communication, collaboration, culturally congruent care, leadership, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement
- Strives for optimal patient outcomes across all assigned units
Qualifications
- Requires previous inpatient RN experience
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) - Required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Required within 5 years of hire
- Michigan RN License - Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 days of hire
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required within 6 months of hire
