Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a detail-oriented estate planning attorney with 1-3 years of relevant experience to join its Madison office as a Special Counsel. This is a full-time, non-partner track position in our Estate Planning Practice Group supporting the group's attorneys in estate planning and administration matters, including providing the full range of sophisticated estate planning, trust administration, and wealth management counsel to individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations.
Qualified candidates should have a solid foundation in estate planning, including a working knowledge of estate, trust, and tax law, including fiduciary and gift tax concepts. Specifically, candidates should have experience drafting complex estate plan and business succession planning documents for high-net-worth individuals, drafting complex charitable giving documents, counseling clients on income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax planning, assisting with probate proceedings for taxable and nontaxable estates, processing Federal gift and estate tax returns, and tax-exempt organization planning. Candidates must have excellent drafting, written, and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on and deliver timely follow through on multiple matters at a time. The ideal candidate will have strong client service skills-able to collaborate with attorneys, paraprofessionals, and other business professionals-and a strong desire to contribute to the firm's culture of service excellence. To be considered, candidates must hold a JD from an ABA accredited law school and be actively admitted and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Admission to the Wisconsin Bar must be obtained on a timely basis as a condition of employment. Interested applicants should submit a resume and law school transcript. The expected salary range for this position is between $150,000 - $180,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, experience, internal pay equity at Foley, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
